The “Ningbo Industrial Cooperation Seminar”, promoted by the Ningbo City Government and organized by Zhong Art International, took place on November 22nd 2018 at the Westin Excelsior in Rome. The event was attended by the Italian vice-minister of the Economic Development, Michele Geraci, by the Chinese regional vice-Governor Zhejiang Zheng Shangjie and by Mr. Zheng Xua representing the Chinese PRC in Italy.
In terms of participation, the seminar was a success, with 150 attendees from the main Italian cities: the Tuscan delegation seemed to be the largest.
The meeting produced an interesting exchange of views on the development of bilateral trade and of cooperation in the cultural and artistic field, resulting in a first incentive towards building future interaction between Italy and China. Actually, the Governor Zhejiang Zheng Shangjie invited the Italian representatives for a visit to Ningbo.
Ningbo is a well-known harbour city with a strong manufacturing industry, its history dates back long ago and it has a rich culture. Undoubtedly, the harbour represents one of the pillars of the district’s economy, however the technological and garment industries are remarkably developed. In 2017 the harbour’s loading capacity was 1,01 billion tons, globally ranking first, while the container production exceeding 24,6 million TEU, was the fourth in the world.
Commercially speaking, Italy is a key partner for the city of Ningbo. There are in fact many similarities to be found in the industrial structures of the two countries: presently the main cooperation sectors are textiles, garments and artistic designing. Moreover, in 2014 an eco-industrial Sino-Italian Park was founded in Ningbo.
